MGB transmission seals worth replacing?

The transmissions out new clutch is on the way and I have new seals on my shelf. The question is would I be opening things unnecessarily? I know I should expect a small amount of "territorial marking." Will I regret not putting new seals in now?
80xxx miles on the 78 B.

P.s. As an update most of the new wiring is in :encouragement:

With the amount of time & effort to do it later and since you have the seals in-hand, DO it now.

I'm with Doc on this one -- if the transmission is right there and ready for it, silly not to do the seals now.

X3 on replacing the seals! Seals sorta dry out over time and loose their flexibility, thus loosing their ability to seal out leaks. Deciding to replace them after everything is back in the car is a royal PITA! Do yourself a favor and do it now. JMHO. PJ

Agree as long as you are just talking about the rubber seals. No need to change paper gaskets except for the one behind the front cover. The side plate if it looks like its been weaping can be changed easy while its out. If you do not have a seal removal tool now is the time to purchase one. If the rear seal is original it will be bear to get out even with the tool.

This is usually what I use to pull seals, slap hammer and a shoe. PJ

Good to hear. Sometimes I second guess myself. I have played with a slide hammer but never seen a slap hammer. Thats no harber frieght tool or have I been walking by it all these times?

Will, I think this one came from Sears. PJ
