TR6 Transmission Plug

I'm about to drain and re-fill the transmission in my TR6 (first time, wish me luck). Is there anything I can/should do to the drain plug to reduce leaking?

I'm not 100% sure it's actually leaking, but it's always wet. Will know for sure when I measure the volume of oil that comes out.

In any case, should I apply teflon tape? Other?

1st check you can undo the fill point !
Don’t drain unless it undoes.
The drain plug should be tapered this self sealing. But I use a smear of thread lock or general gasket sealant on the threads.
Trouble is it’s the lowest point we’re any leak will drip from. A lot of leaks stem from the top where the selector rods are.

Good advice on the fill point, thank you!

Anybody have a reference to a tapered plug that accepts an Allen key? My current plug is bulky and sticks out about 3/4". I will switch to a better plug if I can find one.

Got mine from McMaster Carr
Go there and search for this:
