Spitfire Transmission Help

Was just curious if anyone knew if a J type transmission out of a 1974 spitfire will fit in a 1978 spitfire?

In this case I had put the transmission in but the clutch won't disengage. However I am using the slave cylinder from the single rail transmission on a three rail. Now Im pretty sure that they are different but I'm not 100 percent sure if that's the problem or not? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
