I will be putting in new tranny fluid today. I'm concerned about whether I have to pour the fluid REAL SLOW or whether there' enough free space in the housing to allow for a reasonable rate of pour. given the small size of the opening, it will be possible to have it overflow and find my new Redline on the garage floor. trial and error at $15 qt is not my idea of a good time.

Ok stupid question, it was early (??) obviously I'll pour slowly, and learn like a good grasshopper. The position I have to get in is so uncomfortable for my back that the less time I spend in that contortion, the easier the rest of my day might be.
 
I took a funnel and a 6 foot piece of rubber hose. Kinda a funnel from college :smile:. I hung the funnel from the ceiling so that it is much higher than the fill opening.

Use 30W nondetergent
 
Pleanty of room in there, I use one of those pumps made for a quart of oil.
 
Oh and tie a little piece or string or wire on the handle to the dipstick. Makes it a lot easier to get it out the next time. Did not think there would be a next time but when my OD went south there was "a next time". Luckily $12 later I was back on the road.
 
Thanks all, I've had an overflow before in a position similar to this where you can't see the fill point. And Vinnie, your description of the 6 foot hose suspended from the ceiling reminded me too much of a college days episode that went badly.
