I think I got the timing close on my 69. I had it running pretty well but it would not start when it got hot. Retatded the timing a little and it seems to be doing fine now. I have a couple more questions. I read in a couple of threads about brass components in some of the Triumph transmissions. Is this true of the 69 TR6. I am going to change the oil soon and I don,t want to do more harm than good. Also, what was the origional color of the engine bay of the 69. My car has been painted and I don't know what they did to the engine bay. Thanks again, Pete

I use 30wt Non-detergent Valvoline motor oil, but then I have an overdrive.

I also have overdrive. I guess I will go with the Redline MTL unless someone has a horror story. I am a big fan of synthetic oils. Thanks, Pete

What about Redline 75W90NS for an overdrive tranny? This seems to be what Moss recommends (because they carry it?). How different is this from the MT90?

txtr3,

Not really sure about 75w90ns, some guy on 6-pack.org called redline and reported what they recommended. There are several vendors that carry redline, including summit.

Go To Napa. They carry Sta-Lube brand Hypoid SAE 85W90 GL4 Gear Oil and the price isn't bad. I bought a case(12 Quarts) to be sure I have it in the future. Especially with the way the price of oil is going. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
