Does anyone know what the D26L means on a TR6 trans?

Just a WAG... could that be a casting number?
It doesn't sound like a serial number since they started with "CD" prior to 1972. Beginning in 1972 USA models began with "CC".
Going out to check my gear box...

edit: just checked my trans... I do not see any designation like that on mine. All I found was the "CC" serial number and a couple of Stanpart numbers. Could yours be from a TR250 or TR4?

Not mine , it's ,I hear, on a few boxes

I checked all the TR transmissions I have sitting around and the only numbers I could find besides the stanpart numbers was the serial numbers. TS - TR3, CT - TR4, CD - TR250 to 72 TR6, CC - 72 up TR6.
