Trailing arm & rear shock paint ?

I am trying to restore a 73 TR6, Does anyone know if the trailing arms or the rear shock bodies were originally painted ?
 
The TA's were left as bare aluminum; don't know about the levers though.
 
On earlier TRs I have seen unpainted shock bodies -- either bare 'silver' metal or with a sort of bronze color to the metal. I believe the 'silver' were original, the 'bronze' may have been replacements. May or may not be applicable to TR6.
