Trafficator Part #2

Well I have the trafficator disassimbled and cleaned. Now comes the fun part, putting it back together. What is the orientation of the little"fork" that points downward on the backside of the trafficator? Any pointers on reassembling that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

The pictures that were provided were a life saver. Without them I would have been "toast". Thank you, thank you!!!

Cheers,

Ray

I have recently rebuilt my trafficator on my 100-4 and it takes a lot of patience. The biggest issue is the proper placement of the new wires. Hopefully you took a picture of their location prior to disassembly. You will also want to have a small screw driver and a pair of very small needlenose pliers or foreceps to reassemble. I recommend sitting down while doing the work, just in case you drop a screw or connector. It took me about 10 tries before I did not drop a screw.
Good luck.

BlackHealey, thanks for your input. I took copious notes so I know exactly where the wires are routed. I have two area that I need advice, what is the orientation of the little "fork" and how do I insure that the turn handle is in the correct position before I reassemble the unit.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray. The "turn handle" belongs at the 12:00 oclock position when the unit is viewed as installed in the wheel. I do not know what you call "the little fork", is it shown in the forum pictures if so which one???---Keoke

Keoke,

It is shown in the third photo. The trafficator is resting on the horn button with the "little fork" facing upward. Does this object fit into something in the steering column?

Ray

OK Ray, I forgot about that thing. It installs in the slot shown and resides at the 6:00 oclock position when the trafficator is reinstalled in the steering wheel's hub.---Keoke

Cheers Ray !!

I assume it all works now.

Yep,ifin we didn't swap any of the wires around.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Ray,

Nice chat on the phone the other day about Healeys. By the way. I will not have to sell the Healey after all. I was able to do enough creative financing to satisfy my immedieate needs. Talk about an eye opening prioritization session....... Things are looking up for the road to Conclave this year. It would be great to see you there.
