There was a a tradegy at a Wal-Mart here on Long Island when they opened the doors at 5 AM this morning. This kind of stuff is just hard to believe!

DUMB A$$ES!! & the savings aren't that great! People spent the night outside stores around here in lines - grilles, tents, etc. just to be the 1st in the store...DUMBA$$ES!

And at a Walmart of all places!

This is a good example of why I've lost the Christmas Spirit.

I must be the odd man out.

My Christmas is about giving to others less fortunate
than I. The less under my tree the more grateful I am.

Starry night! Holy night.

Black Friday sales are tantamount to the Festival Seating that lead to the tragic deaths of 11 concert-goers in Cincinatti at a Who concert in 1979.

Store that promote this activity (purely out of greed) should be ashamed of themselves...as should those customers who revert to "animal instict" for an opportunity to buy the most recent gadget at a reduced price.

I refuse to be a part of this "holiday tradition".

On December 3, 1979 outside the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio eleven people were killed and dozens were injured in a crush of people trying to get into the arena. Fans were waiting outside for a Who concert scheduled to take place that night.

Thousands of fans (with first-come, first-served festival seating tickets) rushed towards the locked doors when they mistook the band's sound check for the concert having started. People were trampled and crushed before the doors were unlocked. The Who went on to play that night, unaware of the tragedy outside.

After the tragedy Cincinnati put a ban on festival or general admission seating. That ban was only lifted once for a 2002 Bruce Springsteen concert and then on August 4, 2004 the ban was lifted totally by city council, concerned that performers were skipping Cincinnati because they could not have general admission seating.

To prevent any problems, new rules limit the number of tickets (based on square footage of the concert location) and all the doors to the festival seating area will have to be opened two hours before the concert. Ushers and security personnel must be in place before the doors are opened, and a written evacuation plan is required.)

It was one of the store emploes that was trampled, not one of crazied customers... that's grim and I'd hope the company rethinks the policy of having these sales. At the evry least I'd hope the man's family sue the socks off them; and, although it's Wal-Mart, this is the sort of thing the workers themselves ought to fight, too. It's dangerous for the mob too.

It's amazing what people will do to save a few bucks on some junky piece of out dated electronics that's going to be cheaper than the sale price Jan 1 and much cheaper 6 months from now. Other people have been killed in the same thing in previous years not to mention all the fights that break out in the store over items that are in short supply. Also looks like there was shooting at toysRus today as well with a couple more people killed.

Tommy lee Jones in MIB said it best "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it."

A terrible tragedy, by wild, undisciplined fools.

I certainly hope that the fops who were complicit in the death are brought to some kind of justice.

I wonder if the police have suspects? Haven't read about anyone being held by police for a homicide.

Out of control nutballs. Strange . . . . scary. :eeek:

Looking at the photos, I better keep my opinion to my self.

All the more reason to shun the maddening crowd!!! Bah Humbug to commercialized Christmas!

our stepson was run off the road & into a tree Wednsday by a careless shopper trying to get to a store "in Time" We know that becaused he did stop & call 911. There were no citations because Scott avoided hitting him & swerved and collided with the tree. We didn't hear till 10pm we were at the hospital till 3am- came back cooked turkey -went back and forth for the 15 minutes we would be allowed to stay. He is out of his coma and recovering nicely but the trips back and forth in this crazed market place no less than twice and frequently more we ourselves werenearly killed by lunatics behind the wheel doing anything to get ahead(?) The one time in my life I wished I owned a tank with LIVE AMMO & I commuted Los Angeles freeways for at least 10 years!!!!!! I haven't have avoided this merchandise driven lunicy as I spent my holidays outside also catering (hopefully) to the joy and merriment of the season ( 3 weeks in a fireworks tent) so this lemming like display was watched on TV. Thankfully our son will be ok & I will never be forced to watch this inhumanity to man by eachother again!!!!!!!!!!!

What truely upsets me is the fact that the people shopping inside were asked to leave AND THEY REFUSED!!! Someone just died and all your worried about is saving $50 on a big screen TV? :madder:
