Wedge TR8 shake and shimmy resolved

$15 and a new ball joint. Apparently the ball joint which was newly installed last spring is JUNK! Even though it looked good it was Junk. I remember this being an issue in the past with Chinese and Indian products.

I am not sure where the shop got it at but I dropped the car off at 0800, by 0900 he identified the ball joint and he had a new one by noon, and he said he would never install another Indian or Chinese product if any other brand was available

I didn't get the part, the shop did. I did not think of asking until I was almost home but it had to be readily available. He always jokes that for him to be able to keep his fleet of Sudebakers on the road he has to be able to know how to source parts and he feels the 8 is not much of a challenge.

It is a good old fashion alignment suspension shop where you drop your car off then have to figure out how you are going to get disengage the owner because he has stories and stories and stories. His favorite is how his dad only left him one thing, common sense. That commmon sense allowed him to realize you have to work hard to make money (unless you are a banker, insurance saleman or politician), you have to work well to keep your work coming back to you and have to like your work so you aren't miserable

Well, I did not remember how nice it was, once I got the new 15 inch wheels and tires on, got the plugs firing in the right order, got the shimmy, shimmy shake out of the front end, it remains a blast to drive even after 10 years of ownership. Straight and true out down the road, nice off the line, timing needs refined but it is probably all the better I can tune it.

The paint job is looking rough, and I want to put a set of dual outlet mufflers on it now but it sounds so sweet. I have almost 100 miles on it in just three days of driving

TR8Todd for the win. What do I get? I had set of those go bad in under a year, and they never saw the road. Should I be worried about the $69 Chinese drive axle I just installed in my wife's car? The transmission seal is leaking now and I need to pull the axle back out to change the seal. On a side note, I just ordered a universal aluminum radiator from Summit for the TR8. It won't be a drop in, but for under $200 and a little fabrication, it seems like a better alternative to recoring the one I just took out.

Pro'lly got the joint at NAPA. MOOG part.
