Wedge TR8 rear end

I recently bought a 1980 Triumph TR8, and the entire rear end (along with the gas tank) was replaced by a previous owner (who i cannot get in touch with). I am wondering if anyone might know what possible replacements exist, as i need to replace my gas tank cap--it will not pass a PA state emissions inspection.

I tried buying one from Victoria British, but it did not fit, leading me to belive the previous owner did not replace it with a TR8 rear end.

Can you guys help me?

There are only two choices. TR8 or TR7 sheet metal. However, lots of different year models could have been used. Therefore, the sheet metal doesn't matter, but the tank neck does. Try https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ and you can look at the diagrams to see what choices there are.
