Question for my fellow 8 owners. When you have the key OUT of the ignition will the radio turn on?, or when the key is out is the radio dead?

Key in off position, no tunes. Key out, no tunes. Key one slot past off (ACC) gives tunes but nothing else, one more slot powers everything else.
 
Original radio or a newer one?

Not an original radio but an older JVC. Hooked up to the factory wiring, which is original. The power line for the radio is on a switched connection.
