Hi guys - any recommendations here? When I pulled everything out to repair and paint the floors there was waht looked like 20+ year old duct tape overing these openings. Was that how the factory did it? Would you put new tape back or try to find a rubber bung instead?

Use the metal foil tape. It will not degrade over time like the duct tape will. In Fairfax, Virginia it is not legal to use duct tape on HVAC ducts. You have to use the metal foil tape.
