I believe I'm having fuel pump issues. Someone posted previously (I couldn't find the post) a question regarding replacement pumps for the carb TR8. I'm interested in what other's have used since you can't buy a new one (Or at least I can't find one).
 
You can buy TR8 fuel pump replacements but they are so expensive ($180)and reported to be a PITA to change. I bought an inline electrical one and have run it for over 6 years with no problem and I beleive I paid around $30 for it. I run a 500 cfm edelbrock 4 bbl carb off of a offy intake. I added a fuel pressure regulator but have never even adjusted it off the factory setting
 
Second what PATR8 says. I've got a universal NAPA in-line pump rated 2-4psi and it's been rock solid for me, 500 cfm Edelbrock. $20, I think.

For best results take your pump in to your local parts house and show them the list and your pump. I think the one we found first that would do the trick when I had to do that was for a Buick 3.8L V6 engined carbureted vehicle.

Or, if you would like to support some of the wedge specialists... Ted Schumacher, Brad Wilson or Woody Cooper would surely appreciate your business. That fuel pump list does come from Brad Wilson's 'WedgeParts' web site though.

As far as replacing the in tank pump... It's actually quite easy as long your tank in below 1/8th. Otherwise you'll want to avoid a gasoline shower by siphoning the tank as dry as you can. After that it's really very easy.

Just put one in my car a month ago. I found this model on the shelf at my local AC Delco Dealer! (AC DELCO #EP31) No problems, fit perfectly, and was not expensive either.

HMMMM I will have to check that out, I would like a in tank pump but I would miss the chatter my current one provides at start up(not!)
 
Great responses. Thanks! However, question about the in-line pump. If the old pump is left on the car, does it cause any problems with the new pump? Also, what location (engine bay, etc.) do you think is the best place to add the in-line?
 
I would not go with the outside pump, unless money is an issue. They are louder for 1, and remeber, they will still have to pull fuel through the old pump, and if the old pump screen is clogged, you could strill have problems. I just went through this exact issue a few weeks ago. So I understand! Good Luck!

I am going to advanced auto parts to day to see if they jhave or can order me the a/c delco in tank one. I would not want to go a whole week with out changing something out on my 8
 
I bought the carter yesterday at NAPA for $44 bucks. Plan to install it this weekend and will let you know how it works out.
 
The Good: The pump works great. Great fit!

The Bad: Had a difficult time get the strainer on the new pump.

The Ugly: Folks, when people tell you to empty the tank to at least 1/8 tank, do it. I siphoned what I thought was most of the tank. Needless to say, when I broke the pumps seal from the tank, at least 4 gallons dumped on me. For those that don't know what it feels like when you shower in gas, it begins to feel real good after the first 30seconds /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
