Wedge TR8 Convertable Top

The stitching on my convertable top is falling apart after the tough scrubbing I gave the top. I was thinking of buying a new Robbins convertable top from TRF.

Sunfast tan or one of the lesser expensive more original Robbins tops in khaki tan or caramel tan? Which color do I now have?

Does someone else have a better price than TRF? Moss said they don't carry any for the TR8.

Did you check with Rimmer Brothers. Also believe there is someone in SoCal selling them, can't remember their name, think they're in the San Clemente area. Might do a search for softops, then sort through them.
 
All things TR8 can be had (eventually) on ebay. I got an EZ-On top for my 8 for, I think around $250. Very happy with it.

Larry, Robbins is located down in Oxnard. I have called them on several occasions for various small problems and issues. Very helpful people. They could surely be of help to you answering questions about the fitting of a new top for you 8. I even got sample pieces of cloth before I chose the Sunfast material for my 6. Give them a call with your questions. May be able to tell you more vendors in Cal.
 
I did receive the top. It looks very nice, but looks can deceive. Here are some pics (the top just setting on the frame)

The top is actually made by EZ On Auto Tops.
Im waiting for a call back from aabestco about a slight problem. I will be sending the top back, because one of the flaps that secure the underside is sewn in the wrong place

Hard to see in the pic, but the flap was sewn over the center rail and it should be over the back rail, where it snaps, just above the window. Waiting to hear from them.

This is a black on black canvas top. The sample they sent was black on tan, so if you order from them you might want to specfiy your preferance.
Also this is a question to anyone with an orginial top:
My org. top had two long tabs rivited too the zip out window and I believe they were used when the top is up and the window unzipped, you could roll the window and secure with these tabs, so it was not just hanging it the back.

The top does look very sharp on the car.

You say this is a 'canvas' top but it looks like a vinyl. Can you fill us in?

I would describe Stayfast (or Sunfast) as 'canvas'..

The top looks very nice. About the flaps... I believe there should be two sets of flaps. One that gets rivetted to the first metal bar (closest to the windscreen) and one that uses snaps on the reat bar. I'm at work so I can't take a picture, but I bought an original top so if you have any doubt shoot me a PM and I will check for you.
 
Rick, This is a Stayfast canvas, made by EZ ON. AAbest does not make the Tr6 top, they use EZ On as a supplier. Spoke with a rep from EZ On this morning and the top will have to be sent back for a remake. He also said there should be two tabs riveted too the window to secure it when it is open with the top up and not too roll it, as this will scratch the window. I don't remember how the window is secured, I thought is was rolled then secured. Any thoughts?
Larry, you are right, the rear flap does attach to the bow above the window. To be continued!!!
