Randall, thanks for the proper way to do it. I wish the Bentley book spelled it out correctly.

Next question, I am using Valvoline full synthetic, It is the same color as regular Castrol. Has anyone used this?
 
Search the forum, I think several people have said they are using Valvoline 'synthetic' brake fluid and are happy with it. Personally, I'm a fan of DOT 5 silicone (which is NOT the same thing), so I'll continue using that.
 
I've been using valvoline synthetic on the brakes and clutches on my TR's with no problems.

You've obviously figured this out, but just for anyone else that may surf through here : Yes, that's right. The tab pries up to slip the thimble off the piston.

Now that my clutch master is done should I bench bleed it before installing?
 
So not to steal the other thread, I read if you are changing over to silicon you should run a fair amount of Alcohol through the system. My M/C is rebuilt with no Castrol in it and my slave will be brand new.The only place there will be old is in the short amount of brake line. What is your opinion?
 
IMO, don't worry about it, it will work just fine without the flushing. I have done several cars now by just filling the MC and bleeding until I get clean purple fluid, and they all worked great. The dire warnings about all the seals needing to be new appear to be wrong as well.

Bought a Chevy new in 1980, then converted it to DOT 5 in 1988 after one of the calipers started leaking. When I junked it in 2003 (with roughly 1/4 million miles), it still had the original seals at the other 3 corners.
