Wedge TR8/7 seats

OK, as I have the interior stripped I am looking at my seats. The seats need lower and upper foam and the diaphrams. This seems to be a lot more pricey than I thought. Anyone else ever do this and have an idea where to get the stuff.

I could easily get new seats from a miata or something much cheaper but I do like the seats. Thanks for the ideas I am sure will follow

Take it to as local upholstery shop as you got. They'll fix it up special. Even change the shape if you like.

TRF sale going on right takes some of the sting out of it...

(used Miata seats are a cheap alternative, but I haven't brackets yet...)

There's been a lot of chatter about seat choices for the Wedges. My choice would be the factory seats. They look right in the car, and they are very comfortable, once redone.

When I restored the 8, I redid the whole interior myself. Stripped the seats down, painted the frames, new diaphragms and foam, etc., etc. Very happy with the outcome.

I haven't redone the TR7's seats yet, but when I did my Spitfire, I found that buying the foam and seat covers was cheaper than the local upholsters.

Yup, they sure will...I paid $450 a piece for them to do mine. Stripped them down to the frames, and redid them with all new components and a custom cover. Very pleased with the end result. Not sure what seats were in the car when I purchased it, but Mickey is right--the stock TR7 seats are quite comfy. Best of luck! --Monica

Not to hijack the thread - but how are you getting on Monica? It's been a while since we heard from you.
How is the TR7 running?

Yea, I never did hear back from you. Wanted to see those pictures in a bigger format than the 2X2.

Tom,

If you can find "cheap" Miata seats, buy them. The brackets will be easy to get, but these seats are not so easy to find any more.

I too prefer the original seats. I may have come up with a very good discovery. I went out to my 7 waiting to go to a Triumph Parts dealer and found that mixing the two sets of seats I can come with one good set. Saves some money and will last me thru this driving season and possible next.

That allows me to buy some other fun stuff and I am looking for some new tires. My tires are not worn out, just getting a few more years on them than I prefer.

I feel like the stereo typical computer geek "What!, there is a GIRL on this site?" Welcome, not many of your gender venture this way

Not a hijack--just a quick detour...
For the record, life has been soo hectic. That being said: Tom and Don, I will PM you tonight--really. Rich, I DID PM you on the 4th. Let me guess..you haven't looked yet? I hope that the info in that PM helps. The way it works is that you have to open the PM to get the info. J/Kiddin', Obi.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled program...
PATR8 (Are you also Tom?) ,
Thanks for the welcome. I am fully enjoying my indoctrination into the world of Triumphs. You guys are fantastic and such an invaluable resource! I apologize in advance for the "Duh, what is she thinking?" questions I am bound to ask. Glad you found a solution for your seats. Be sure to send pictures when it is all said and done! Can't wait to see them. Have a fabulous night!--Monica
