Wedge TR7V8 with new paint

Well I went with the BRG metallic, then was in need of something a little more bold so I did the yellow swath inspired by the early racing TR's like the one the TRF and Charles has.

I like it, the younger neighbors agree, the slightly less young ones seem to think it is a little too bold.

My LBC partner in crime agreed with someone on here that thought it looked like a Lotus paint job. So here are a two preview pics after we took it out of the paint "shed" and moved it to the garage where we wet sanded it and are in the process of buffing it. We are still buffing and are getting ready to hand glaze. The is still lots of dust from the buffing laying around on it and we are starting to put it back together so you have to use some imagination to see what it will look like clean. Maybe some clean pics tomorrow night if the painter's family is done being sick.

There were more than a few people pressing me to paint below the body swath with the yellow too. not that into it but apparently I have found a few others who like it... Whose car is that?

That would be my car. Here is a pic of the other one.

13X7 with 225/50/13 Hoosiers. They could be Panasports or Two Gates. They look the same and I had 5 sets at one point. I am now allowed to run 15X7, but haven't been racing since the kids were born.

what kind of primer did you use under the base coat? You didn't go down to bare metal (I think) so I am wondering what to use on my fhc.

We did not go to bare metal, he scuffed off the cheap resale red and used the factory paint as a starting point. I am not sure of the type of base coat he put on top of that because i was not there that day but it was a light greenish gray. The green was 6 coats of Lotus BRG Metallic. The yellow color was actually my third choice, the first choice ended up being a yellow from a Lambo and a three stage paint and a little more than I wanted to pay, the second was a yellow Metallic used on a Corvette and was almost as much as the first. The PPG guy pulled up all the yellows that were close the the first two choices and I picked the yellow metallic I used, it is an option on Volvo Diesel trucks. I like it. We're are glazing it tonight, I am putting the door hardware and tires on.

I think he did a very good job, espically for the price since I was helping him with the labor. It will never be a show car but i like to drive my 8 allot so it is perfect

ok, put some more peices on, got the tires on so here is the updated pic, did not get it glazed... tomorrow hopefully

Well it is mostly glazed, got a few spots to do a little better on, bumper on, putting the interior back together, noticed a rear dif leak, doing some repair work to the power steering pump. Looks better cleaned up. Tomorrow, I hope, it is driving me crazy with all the great driving weather but I wanna do it right the first time.

OK, finished buffing it and got the decals on, cleaned the interior up, a few touch up spots where we buffed a a little too deep. Went to start the 8 up and a dead battery...... uggg....

However my formerly un-named 8 seems to have developed a name from the painter's son and daughter. My daughter called the green metallic paint Sinister Green cause she thought it looked unfriendly. The painters kids then took to calling my 8 "Sinister". Now my kids are referring to the 8 as "Sinister". "Are you done painting Sinister", "is Sinister going to take me to the football game?", "will you pick me in Sinister",
