i've been dreaming about new tires for my '76 fhc, previous owner put on wal-mart specials to sell with new tires. problem is it seems hard to find high performance tires in the proper size. on my 81 dhc i went to america's best tires and special ordered some tires, but they seem to be no longer available. so what does every one else use for street use and occasional parking lot racing?

Hi Guy!
When I got my first 7 it had 205/60 13s on it in some off brand, Hercules I think. A little larger contact patch and only 2% difference in the speedo odo read. When I had to replace them I went with the stock 185/70 size as the only 205s I could find were scarce and relatively expensive. Can't say as I miss the 205/60s much, but then I don't autocross or anything with it, just a daily driver. I think that the 205/60s I did find were Parelli's. BTW I did have a bad experience with some Polish tires that were put on my 2nd 7(the automatic)for the reason you mention in your post. Replaced them with Kumho's I ordered through Tire Rack.

i looked on tire rack and didn't see kumho's listed in 13" sizes. i have 205/60 dunlops on my dhc and they seem to stick to the road pretty well, but they aren't listed anymore either.

When I washed my TR7 two days ago, I was cleaning the tires and the old Tom McCahill line about a Datsun entered my head: "The tires on this car are so small they would look more appropriate being dunked into my morning coffee."

I was pretty sure they were Kumho's, but I never did see them and the car is still in St. Francis, KS. Tires do seem to come and go as to availability don't they? When I was shopping for the 205/60 I think it was Sam's Club that listed them as a special order item. The tires I ended up with I got from Sear's in the stock 185/70 size. I sure like the wear mileage I get on my 7 as compared to my Astro van. Even with the front end not right on I'm not seeing any weird wear patterns.
