From the original question, I understood that the head was off & that the two back studs were broken off flush with the block. Izual, is this the case, or what?

Easy Outs are very poor (usually worthless) for removing any really tight broken bolt. By it's design, it expands the hole it is in & makes the stub even tighter in it's hole. The LH drills that are mentioned work much better. By nature, the drill grabs at the bottom of the hole & tries to unscrew the stub. If you use progressively larger drills, the stub unscrews out of the hole fairly soon.

Sorry for the confusion. The head is attached to the block, but the studs broke off flush with the head.
 
In that case, try the rope trick, get the head off over the studs, and have another go at the stud when you can get a grip on it. Heating and cooling the stud will definitely help.
