I have a lucas distributor, I think it is 47dm4 or 45dm4. It is the lucus model with the seperate amp. My questions is, I do not have a vacuum advance on it...yet almost all tr7's i see have it. Is this right that i dont have the advance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif and what does it do? This is an original electronic lucus distributor( no points)

John,
Many of the vac. units on the distributors do not work, and most TR owners do not even know it. It is my understanding that it is on the car for emissions reasons at idle. Also the lack of one, or a non-fuctional one does not hurt the car's overall performance.

mine is dis-connected. I think that it is really a vacuum retard instead of advance.

On the Delco systems, it is a vacuum retard, not advance.
