Wedge tr7 alternator troubles

Had my 25ACR alternator rebuilt at a local shop. Now there is a drain on the battery that I didn't have before. Of course the shop tested the alternator and it passed. I only get about 12 volts out of the alternator so my 2meter radio won't transmit even on low power. If I disconnect, not sure of name of connection-- the smaller brown wire that goes back into the wiring harness, the "Field(?)" connection there is no battery drain. with key off and battery connected there is a 2-3 amp draw through the "Field(?) " connection. .

Now I have to drive the tr7 to the shop so they can troubleshoot in the system. I hate it when the professionals don't listen to me (ranting-sorry).
