TR6 TR6 Wheel Offset for Minilites

I am in process of buying a set of minilites for my "Six" is there a offest that works best with this wheel. If I understand the offset correctly it should be 3.5" as I measured it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No No No... Thats not the offset. Offset is the distance +/- of the hub mating surface from the centerline of the wheel. Not from the backedge of the wheel to the backedge of the hub mating surface (thats backspacing). For example, on a 7" wheel with zero offset has a 3.5" backspacing. If the same seven inch wheel has a +25mm offset then the backspace would be 4.5", if it were -25mm then the backspace would be 2.5".

The last TR6 offset figure that I heard was +6mm on the stock wheel. The 7" wide panasports (both 15" and 16") are reportedly zero offset wheels.

Not to contradict Swift6, I heard the offset was 12mm positive. I measured the offset from the front and rear faces of the wheel and came up with 1/2 inch which is roughly 12mm offset

Does this mean these wheels are just bolt on with no allowance for offset or backspace? What considerations need to be made when moving up to the 16 inch wheels?

Thanks for your experience and wisdom. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

crj7driver is correct about offset.

Referring to the following url https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html , you will see a 12mm negative offset on a 7" wheel with a 3.5" backspace. This is because the offset is calculated using the measured distance to the tire mounting surface not the inside edge of the wheel.

Backspace on a TR should be 4" or less to provide room for upper a-arms at the front and/or leaf spring (TR2-4A) or tube shock conversion( IRS) at the rear.

Don't worry about it, I've never measured it myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just relaying what I have heard elsewhere. If you've measure +12mm use it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Supposedly there are some interference issues with the 15X7's when it comes to full lock turns where the wheel hits part of the A-arms. One of the 6mm spacers that Moss sells would take car of it though. The 16X7's don't have that problem and I guess it's because the large diameter clears the offending part of the A-arm. It is very easy though with the 7" wheels to get the tires to stick out past the fenders, even without the spacers.

That page explains it all very nicely with nice visuals as well. I was looking for something like that in response to the original question. Now I have it bookmarked. Thanks Peter! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
