TR6 TR6 Water Pump Question

I noticed in this Triumph Owners Manual that the water pump is supposed to have a plug on the top which is supposed to be removed so the pump can be greased ocassionally.
The thing is my 71' TR6 does'nt have such a plug? Am I missing something here?

And as far as I know, none of the aftermarket replacements ever had the lube hole.
Does anyone remember when you could buy kits to rebuild your own pump?

And on 2s, 3s & 4s there is even a zerk for lubing the pump, though here too repros do not have it as they are lubed 'for life'. Are the seals NLA for these pumps? I expect the bearings are standard but don't know if seals are also a standard item.

The seals are available from Vicky Brit and the bearings are Standard, I've got the numbers for Timken around here somewhere but, and always a but, the bearings are high and unless you have a press forget the whole thing. You could save maybe $15 to $20 and will have to buy the gasket or since you went to all that trouble just make your own. The reason they took the zerk fitting off the water pump is because almost everyone would pump grease into it until they saw it coming out and there goes your seal. Done that, be there. Wayne

THE MANUAL THAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT WAS FOR AN EARLIER MODEL (MOST LIKELY THE TR-250/5). I ALSO HAVE A '71 TR-6 AND THERE IS NO PLUG FOR REGULAR GREASING, ALTHOUGH I HAVE REMOVED SOME RETAINING BOLTS AND HAVE ADDED GREASE TO THOSE. I CALLED THE ROADSTER FACTORY AND SPOKE WITH A TECHNICIAN, THERE IS NO PLUG FOR ADDING GREASE ON THE TR-6 WATER PUMP. THE PUMP WAS DESIGNED TO BE REPLACED WHEN WORN OUT (WHO SAYS OUR CARS DON'T HAVE MODERN CONVENIENCES).
