TR6 TR6 water pump installation - use gasket sealer

Tom, I normally apply a thin coating of Hylomar to both sides of the gasket. It not only will ensure a good seal, but it holds the gasket in place.

Like BugEye I alsso use a thin coat of hylomar gasket dressing. Though it seems to be getting harder to find.

Re: TR6 water pump installation - use gasket seale

Kragen didn't have it, but they had a similar material. Seems to have worked OK. We'll see....

Thanks guys!

Permatex Aviation. Both sides, let it tack for half an hour.

Where can you get it Bill?

Re: TR6 water pump installation - use gasket seale

Everywhere. Autozone, NAPA, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc. It is dark brown gunk that seals like crazy. I have no luck with Hylomar, except in my tranny. I seal my valve cover and oil pan with Permatex Aviation. Never has failed me.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Good stuff. Hylomar is also very tried and true for applications like these.
