TR6 TR6 Waist Seal Installation

Any advice on doing this before I begin? I got new waist seals for the doors and I need to install them. I looked at it last night, and installing the little clips in place does not look easy due to the tight fit. Should I take the window out?

Is this also called a scraper seal? I did mine by making one of those hacksaw tools described in the Moss catalog (p 81 in the TR4 catalog, probably somewhere around there in the '6 version).

I used something sticky to help hold the clip in the hook of the tool -- maybe contact cement?

Not too difficult -- certianly easier than pulling the window. Worst that can happen is you drop a clip. Easy to retrieve if you alrady have the door panel off... or you can tie a bit of thread around the clip to hang on to it if it drops, then when it is seated yank the thread out.

it was not that bad when I did it on the TR4A. I did it with the glass in place. Just make yourself the tool as described in the manual (and reproduced in the Moss cataloge). I made my tool out of soft metal and that was a bad idea. If I were to do it again, I would use something harder of maybe I should temper the one I made (which was just made from left over body patch metal).

good luck

Could you post the link? I can't seem to find it and need to do my TR6.

Thanks,

Paul

The catalog had an illustration of the tool that may help.

Thanks!! I represent a stamping shop in my other life as a sales rep. I'm going to see if we can make some of these.
