TR6 TR6 Trunion installation/stop sleeve help

I am finally putting the front suspension together. I am stopped at this point because I am not sure how tight to screw the trunion in. I read my Bentley manual, and that was not of much help. I do have Dale's article. I filled the trunion 1/4 with gear oil. I tried screwing the trunion on to the spindle axle as tight as I could get it by hand. This put it in its normal position to be installed. Obviously this is not correct, because there would not be a complete range of motion. I decided to back it off one complete turn. Does this sound correct?

Another thing I do not understand is how to position the stop sleeve on the trunion. It is offset, but how is this positioned on the trunion?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Kevin- sounds like you're making progress.

I no longer post in the Triumph forum.
I will e-mail you directly and give
you some assist.

Kevin-

I think there is a measurement somewhere for that stop, but on my TR4 all I did was turn the steering wheel lock to lock and checked for interference. I had one tire rim rubbing on one side so I adjusted the stop to eliminate it. Easiest done on jack stands.

It sounds like I am doing what I am supposed to do. Thanks for all of your input. Almost everything on this car is a learning experience for me, and it is always nice to get confirmation that I am doing it correctly.
