Hello, BCFers, a question about the TR6 tach cable orientation:
The Bentley isn't too specific about which end goes into the tach. It does say: " remove the knurled retainer, and withdraw the inner cable". In the pictured cable's case, the "longer" end can be withdrawn; hence, that's the tach instrument side, I'm guessing...
When I first bought the car, the tach was working, but soon died. Replacing the cable didn't help; (now I'm thinking I may have switched the ends). Rebuilding the tach didn't help; the shop's owner sez there are incorrect tach cables being made, and could make me up a correct one. I know the distributor side turns the inner cable, slower and faster w/ revs. I'll check the end on the installed tach for now, but am just tossing this to the forum......
Now off to the garage.
