TR6 TR6 Starter/solenoid Clicking

I have an issue with my starter. The starter works fine but, it has started to make a rapid clicking sound as the starter turns. It does not seem to be the gears, it is more of an electrical clicking. Maybe from the solenoid? Battery is new and fully charged. Connections are clean and secure. Any ideas?

If I remember correctly, the TR6 starter (or maybe just some of them) has two different coils inside the solenoid. One is a "holding" coil that remains energized as long as you hold the key to the start position, the other is a "pull-in" coil that is de-energized after the solenoid moves and closes the contacts. It sounds as though your "holding" coil is not working, so what you are hearing is the solenoid relaxing just until the pull-in coil gets energized again.

Or in other words, yes, I think it is likely the solenoid.
