TR6 TR6 Reading

Does anyone know of a good book to read on the TR6 Engine (the how and why of each system)? I have a repair manual but that doesn't explain why things are so. I don't know that much about engines but want to learn.

Thanks,
Daniel

I can't say that I am aware of any one book that goes into great depth on the engine. If you buy several books, you will stand a better chance of learning about the car. If you don't have the Bentley Manual, it is a good place to start.
Try searching the web for engine information. It doesn't necessarily have to be for TR6, any straight four, six or eight articles will give you the basics on how an engine works.
If you don't belong to a local Triumph Club, join one. Members are generally more than happy to help out people with an interest in learning. Clubs will offer you more opportunity to hands on experience, which is better than any book.
And if you regularly read this forum and post questions along the way, you should feel pretty comfortable with knowledge gained in time.

Hi Daniel,

In addition to the factory repair manual and parts catalog, I also recommend Roger Williams' "Restoring Triumph..." series. Each book in the series includes a pretty thorough step-by-step engine rebuild procedure that's reasonably well illustrated.

The "Restoring..." books don't get very much into performance mods, perhaps just some common, minor improvments. If you are also considering doing some modifications, look at Williams' "Improving Triumph..." series. This latter doesn't have the ste-by-step engine building, though. Both series are published by Veloce as part of their Speed Pro series.

Other sources of great info about high performance modifications include Kas Kastner's three books, available directly from him at https://www.kaskastner.com

Here in Silicon Valley you'll find the oldest continuously operating Triumph club in the U.S. "Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club" was founded in 1958. Their website is https://www.triumphtravelers.org/ They are based in Sunnyvale, but have membership throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Cheers!
