TR6 TR6 oil suggestions

Hello,

I am getting ready for a cross country trip. I figure I will change the oil before I go. I am currently using Castrol GTX 10-40. I am a little concerned about oil pressure. The oil pressure gauge reads about 60-70 when I start it up in the morning. It stays about 50-55 as I am driving down the freeway. I don't have a gauge to compare cylinders at the moment. Should I be using something other than what I am using? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I'm thinking 20W-50 might be better than 10W-40, especially during summer months. On the other hand, those pressures are well within 'spec,' but they might be a bit higher with the 20W-50!

I bookmarked Paul's page , but will probably never assimilate it, no matter how many times I read it. My short answer is 20W-50wt. Brand, not so critical as frequency of changes. Now hold on to your hat as this one does generate discussion.

It seems like it was about 2 weeks ago that it was hashed out.... .again.
..with ZDDP thrown in for good measure.

"motor oil" will probably bring up lots of non-related topics. "ZDDP" will bring up all kinds of controversy about lubricants!

Hello,

It is mandatory to use 20w50 during summer. Another concern is ZDDP you must add a bottle(Moss) at oil change or use motorcycle oil. I found at W.-M. their motorcycle oil which is SE,SF, indicating SAE specs conforms to our TR6 requirement.
