TR6 TR6 No ignition / power

Good evening all - Looking for some more advice from the experts!

I was just about to take the TR6 for a run; turned on the ignition started to turn the engine over, then click nothing.

The car will not start & none of the electrical components are functional. (The battery is at full charge.)

Has my starter failed?

Regards,

Jon.

I had this problem. Turned out it was a short under the dash.

If the battery is at full charge (are you sure ?) and none of the electrical systems are receiving power, then look for a loose or corroded connection. Look carefully at your battery's terminals, remove them, clean them and then reinstall. But first make sure the battery is really good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Its very strange, the car did initially start to crank over. (It did not sound as though the battery was low - I did verify this with a battery tester.)

I'm puzzled that none of the electrics work however. (All fuses have been checked also)

Hello Jon,

only some circuits are fused. I take it that you don't have the ignition warning light lit with the ignition on and that none of your lights work. If that is the case then Merlin's advice is good. Also ensure that the heavy earth strap between the chassis and the engine/body is sound. However this normally only affects the cranking of the starter, there is normally sufficient ground for low wattage items to function. Do check, also, your starter solenoid, there is a heavy brown cable attached to the battery terminal of the solenoid which could have come adrift.
