TR6 TR6 never came in Black?

It is my understanding that black wasn't normally available on the TR6, or on most any Triumph sold in the US after about 1966 or 1967. I can't say for sure about other markets. On the other hand, I have it on good authority (namely John Macartney, for those who know that name) that a customer or dealer with a really good "in" with the Company could, in fact, get almost any color desired.

"New White" was available, but not black.

If I ever get another one, it will be black. Actually, the TR4A in black is kind of my little dream car.

The black in the color chart may have been rear valance black?

I plan to paint mine this spring and I am going to black. original color was safron yellow, a little too flashy for me. I'll post pics when and if i get there.

like this too..

I think the black looks nice'

But it makes the car look even smaller than it is...

looks real nice with the tan interior
Nice hard top too.

I recall John saying that the black cars were painted on Fridays because after using black the paint equipment had to be thoroughly dismantled and cleaned.

The other colors could be used w/o a thorough cleaning by just spraying until the new color came through.
