Well I got my carbs back on and running, but my spedo wasnt working when I took the 6 for a test drive, but also and an OD switch was stuck in the closed position plus my new rebuild tranny was jumping out of gear( and rebuilder said to tighten up the springs in the top cover that put pressure on the balls in the detent notches. So today took the seats out pulled the tranny cover, pulled the cover off the tanny, screwed the screws in a turn to put more pressure on the detent notches. DOne, replace the OD switches and reverse switch, actually 3rd was stuck in the closed postion, now to the spedo, the Angle drive failed, the cable part that goes into the tranny and only after 500 miles, ( crap?) well I took it apart and dang if they didnt braze or weld a short cable to the gear, Luckly I saved my old spedo cable and cut a short length, welded it back to the gear, after I drilled the old one out, ground the weld down and put it back together, I also cut a hole where the angle drive goes in the transmission cover so I can get to it if it fails again with out pulling the cover again!!!!!

The angle drive is the weakest link, but usually indicates a problem somewhere else. IMO that is a very likely sign that the speedo head needs to be lubricated. When the bushing gets dry, it tends to get hot and bind after extended driving.

Remove the head from the dash, and put just one or two small drops of good machine oil (3-in-1 will do, I use gun oil) just inside the threaded portion (not in the square hole). Then use a small screwdriver in the square hole to spin it a few times and reinstall.

Could be the cable of course, but in my experience they tend to stay bound up once they get bad. The speedo head is a much less obvious, but more likely culprit.

well that not good since I had the spedo rebuilt by nossinger and only have 500 miles on every thing but I will do that
