Hello,
I am still plugging away trying to get my car ready for the good weather. I noticed that my car lean was leaning. I measured over each fender, centered over the axle and found that it leaned 5/8 inch on the passenger side. Is this normal? If not, what would most likely be the cause? Is it worth dealing with?
Thanks, Kevin

I'm not certain what you are referring to as body lean, but will guess that your rear wheels camber is off. This is caused by worn rear springs. New springs is cure and is an easy fix.
The springs can wear unevenly, causing the car to sag to one side.
If not the springs, to your knowledge, has the car ever been disassembled?

Hey Kevin,
I had the same problem with my 69, as Doug said, worn springs. I redid mine front and rear, and while I was at it upgraded the antisway bar to 7/8". Not really needed for the lean, but hey I was there already. You will need a spring compresser to do the job. An easy weekend project overall.

Cheers

Rob

Had the same problem with my '74 but the springs were not the culprit. The bushings in the trailing arms were shot. Replaced them, put it back together and magically the problem disappeared! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had that lean also, I fixed mine by replaceing all the bushings and springs on my front end. Just a suggestion though, if you don't have a spring compressor or want to deal with one, here is what I did. I used a prybar on the front spring to get them out. I just stood to the side and yanked. Then I took the new springs to the local shop (Hicksville Spring), and had them band the springs on one side so the would be compressed into a bend. Then just put them up into place reattached the new Ball joints and tie rod ends, cut the bands and I was done. No fuss or muss. It made a pain in the "A" job very easy. On the backs I did the same thing only had them Band both sides of the springs.
