Hi all ,my latest 6 is a 72 CP car with PI . At the moment the engine is not too great , it ticks over nicely but is quite lethargic up to about 2500 - 3000 rpm then goes really well . The PI set up is good and correctly timed (I know these inside out), the ignition is timed .
The car has a stainless extractor manifold and the P.O. states there was an "uprated" cam shaft . I am beginning to wonder if the cam maybe the problem in that it is incorrectly timed with the crank - ie 1 or 2 sprocket teeth out . I am going to measure the lift on the cam today and see if I can find anything re the cam timing . Any ideas either way would be appreciated - am I looking in the right direction or what should I be looking at .
My other 6 is a 1970 PI with a fast road cam . This car is very spirited right through the rev range.
Regards Scott
