Actually, that was a TR4. He spent a lot of time in second gear.

What kind of event is this. No helmets and passengers. Looks kind of fun yet somewhat leisurely.

I wish we had events like this in the U.S. Last week I lapped Watkins Glen with 35 other TRs at a TRA National Meet Event. It was ridiculously slow. Turns out that the third guy back from the pace car couldn't keep up and, since passing was not allowed, held everyone up behind him.

Grrrr!

They said that the pace car almost lapped the last TR in only three laps!

Yes, it was cool to lap The Glen, but it would have been so much more fun to lap it at speed.

Loved seeing the Supercharged Mercedes storm past and disappear. The other white car 'hogging' the line might have been an Alfa. Hard to tell from that angle. The motorcycle putting along made me giggle. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Sounds like a great time. It would have been nice it the cars could have been sorted by speed compatibility so you could have gotten a few more RPM's

Yes, that would have been nice. The guy could have pulled off and rejoined at the back when he realized that he couldn't keep up.

But I think that he didn't know that he was going slowly. TRA, by and large, is a group of Waxers, not Racers. My buddy couldn't believe how fast they let us go, while I couldn't believe how slowly they made us go! These guys have no idea of racing lines, turn in points, apexes, etc.

I must be the exception; I was into racing before I was into TRs. My first thoughts of what sports cars are about came from reading 1967 Road & Track articles. I thought that the competition would be how fast your car is and not how clean and restored to originality it is. Boy, was I in for a surprise!

Don't get me wrong, I still had fun!

Re: its a TR4 in action on utube

Hi guys,

I´m the owner and driver of this yellow bastard. It´s a 1964 TR4 wich I bought 25 years ago from Italy. Originaly it was a white solid axle TR4. The car i bought was a mix of this car with frame and some other parts from a TR4A.
A few months after buying I started a "frame off" restauration. 8 years later I finished. The TR is not original but it´s like I would have done it in the sixtees. So it´s a very special TR4 B ( like bastard ). Here some of the importend work.
Uprated chassis, "MOVIT" brakes which are special build for two friends an me. Engine is 2.3 with 45 Webers, JE Pistons, 300° cam, roller rockers. Power is on the level of a strong going TR6 PI ( 150 HP ).
Overdrive, 3.7 axle with Quaife LSD, uptated coils and shocks, 7" Wofrace aloy´s, aloy fuel tank, STACK speedo, 6 pt. harness and racing bucket seats.

The event where I made the video is a meeting at the "Nuerburgring Nordschleife" better known as the "green heck".
Our "TR-IG-Suedwest" club with more than 600 members rent this track every year for two ours. In the year the video is from we had about 140 guests only wit vintage cars and bikes. The mix with the bikes was very dangerous because the bikers had no mirrors and also no interested tolook behind.......

3 hours after finishing the rebuild of my crashed TR4 - this was the first carefully rollout among a crowd of invited vintage racers.

In the next ours I will upload 3 videos with complete turns of this event.
Called TRaffic 1 - 3. Enjoy it.

Please note that modern supercars do one turn in 6-7 minutes !

In 2010 our member Christian Marx , driver in the german Triumph Competition made a Video with his raceTR4 and me as co-driver.

Please excuse my English but it´s about 40 years ago I learned in shool

At my youtube account you will also find 2 videos from a hillclimb where I live. Carsten Conrads, the owner of "5VC" lend me his great car for this event. Because it was very wet I was very carefully with this historic ralley car.
