I am busy disassembling my dash to get to my heater. Do I need to remove the steering column and metal dash to be able to remove the heater? Anyone have any tips on removal and installation of this unit? I already have Paul's article on the rebuild itself. Any tip or information would be appreciated.
Kevin

No, you just need to pull out the glove box and the air vent hoses.
There is one nut that is tough to reach up near the ahtray, in fact through that hole is the best way to get a wrench onto that nut.
Not that tough all in all but helps to have narrow hands and long triple jointed fingers!

Does the dash support need to come out, or do you work around it? I'm going to need to do the same procedure in the near future.

I took mine out tonight, and I had to take out the dash support. I also had to remove the cables from the center console.

Kevin, you scanning Paul's site for the rebuild?

Yep, using Paul's site. I got everything apart yesterday and am repairing things as I go. I will be blasting and powdercoating things today. Mice had packed my heater and chewed the wires. The wires arced and caught fire a while back. Got the fire out quickly, so there was minimal damage.I'm anxious to finally have a working heater.
