This brings to mind the storey of the Hartman Plug( a legend in our club).
Many people commute to and from Lawrence & Topeka and at the time, I would
wave to a good friend of mine as he went by in his old Mini almost daily.
One afternoon as we passed each other , he veered to the shoulder and stopped. I naturally
swung around too ,and stopped as Charley opened the bonnet. "suddenly just died" he said looking
for something"amiss" , and there was. The metal plug in the end of his intake manifold had fallen out
killing all vacuum to the carbs.
" Oh I have just the thing "he said, digging in the back seat for a few seconds and coming out with a wine
cork. With no more said ,he installed the plug in the end of the manifold, fired it up and drove off.
Elapsed time 3 minutes.
To this day there are folks in our club that will plug an unwanted hole in a LBC with a wine cork, in honor
of the humor and quick wit of Charley Hartman (a dear friend greatly missed).
I doubt if this helps much with the misplaced hole in the Tr6 fender . However if you do plug it off, put
CH on the plug and relate the story, when asked.
