I installed new tie rod ends and found a guy in Charlotte that works on our older cars, he aligned my front end and did a great job. In talking with him I ask if he balanced wire wheels, and he said yes! He also said they are a pain to do, He balances them on the car so the whole tire, wheel and rotor is balanced as a complete unit. I am going to set an appointment later and have it done, Now he told me if I take the wheels off to do any work I would have to mark the wheels location to the hub and put it back on exactly as it came off as its balanced as a unit

will follow up once its done

Wow, that's amazing that you found someone who can still balance on the car. I couldn't find anyone in my area, and finally bought the machine from a shop that didn't use it any more.

Note that it also means you cannot rotate the tires without re-balancing. Also, my brand new rotors were significantly out of balance, so no amount of balancing just the wheel helped.

well driving less than 5000 miles per year, the tires will dry rot before I have to rotate them
