Does anyone have experince with 5 speed conversions for the TR6? How well does it work? How much did it cost? Where did you get it?...Anyone?

Lee,

There's a few of us in the forum with this conversion. If you search the archives you'll be able to review the discussion.
There are three kits that I know of . HVDA kit is made by Herman Van den Akker & is about $1500.00 + a Toyota 5-speed .

Quantum mechanics offers a kit . https://www.quantumechanics.com/categories.php?op=newindex&catid=7
There is a one more that I can't think of at the moment that uses a Ford type unit similar to the Quantum mechanics conversion.
I am only familiar with the HVDA kit & I'm more than thrilled with the finished product'. The kit included an Hydraulic T/O bearing which eliminates alot of the inherant clutch problems. The kit bolted in as described & I cruise at 70 mph under 3,000 rpm.

I just had the Ford type 9 transmission installed in my 71' TR6 by Quantum.

best thing I ever did for the car

Reasonable price: Call John for details /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

I cruise at 70 mph at 2500 with a Quantum J-type overdrive and I can shift into 5th with my pinkie.

"but does it have a 5-speed transmission, like Isuzu?" - remember that commercial?
