TR6 TR6 Exhaust Manifold

I am replacing my exhaust manifold gasket and am wondering if there is a certain order that the bolts/nuts should be tighten down. I believe the proper torque value is 20 to 25 ft lbs but the book doesn't say which order. Also is seems that 3 or 4 of the intake manifold bolts also hold the exhaust manifold down. I'm sure many have gone thru this and appreciate any input given. Keep on 6ing. :yesnod:

Jerry, I just tighten everything in a random sequence, a little at a time. I don't use a torque wrench here on my header because I cannot get one to fit in the tight spots. But I feel that I use more than those numbers. I have used, and disposed of, those "header" gaskets, the thick paper ones. They burn out. Went with a Payen gasket from my set. Always use new nuts and locks. Have sprayed the gasket in the past with copper spray, but not this time. No leaks.

I always start in the middle and work my way out. I learned that many years ago from a master mechanic. I also always use brand new grade eight hardware including lock washers. Never had a problem. Good luck and godspeed.

<span style="color: #990000">Sound advice. Finger tighten first and then
gradually tighten all in similar fashion akin to tightening
down lugnuts on a wheel. A little here, a littler there-
until uniformity of torque is attained.

Even the Tinster managed this task on the first attempt!!
