TR6 TR6 engine compartment water channel

It's been pretty stormy here the last few days and my poor TR6 is stuck outdoors...I noticed a little water on the floor mat on the drivers side....Opened up the hood to find alot of water sitting on the back shelf/firewall behined the brake booster and down below where the steering column comes through.....It looks like the water channel around the top directs water directly into these areas? Is this righ? How can I stop it from collecting there?

Thanks

It should be directing water out to the fenders where it is supposed to drain down the inside of the fenders and then out through the bottoms of the fenders.

If those drains, in the bottom of the fender, are clogged then it could be filling up the inside of the fender bewteen it and the body tub. Made possible by the sealing piece in the front wheel well to keep road gook from sealing those same holes.

Also, the fresh air vent has drains built into it to funnel water out the same fender drains. These drains do have rubber hose sections (small 90 degree pieces) that run through the interior (up under the dash) on its way out to the fender area. These rubber hoses rot out and then water can run into the footwells that way. You have to look up near the windscreen mounting points under the dash to find them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/square.gif

This leak is definatly from the corner where the firewall shelft drops down below where the steering column comes through...I looked and can see the little drips forming in this corner under the dash
The water runs along the top of the channel, over to the driver side corner...There a cutout in the channel which allows the water to run down onto the shelf behind the brake booster(there is a metal cylinder bolted right here as well) from there it is running down to where my leak is...should there be a drain hole somewhere in this area? it would make sense to have one....Otherwise the water would sit in the engine compartment like it is now.

Since the camera was already out I ran back out to the garage and snapped this photo of my drivers side drain area for you.
I think I'm too hopped up on caffeine right now to hold the camera steady. Trying to sleep this evening should be fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

If you have something blocking that drain area. Can you relocate it?

Thanks
Thats the same as mine...Nothing blocking it....should that be draining into the inner fender(not the engine compartment?)....I'd go look, but it's pitch black out.

Take a look under the dash where the drain tubes attatch. Often these seperate ot rust away in the corners. On the TRF diagram it's refered to as the plenum. On the drivers side it exits close to the hood release & the same location on the pass side.

Yes, it should be draining into the fender well.

Thanks, I'll have to take a closer look later today...Spent the whole morning cleaning up the MGA. Now it's raining again.
While we're on the subject, how does the fenderwell drain?(where) as I am gunna take a wild guess and say that the drain there is probably blocked as well.
