TR6 TR6 Electronic Ignition

I have considered electronic ignition as an upgrade but I really don't put enough miles on the TR6 to use up a set of points. On the other hand, I am interested in the actual realized benefits that you may have with the conversion. Coil up grade too? I guess a little more spark would be nice but can you tell a difference? Did you change your spark plugs too? The bushing in my distributor is border-line; would the electronic conversion be less sensitive to a little slop in the distributor bushing than stock? Pertronix is the only company I have seen in the recent past that makes a system for the TR6; are there others?

A partial reply -- you can certainly upgrade the coil w/o giving up the points. Should allow you to open up the plug gap a bit.

I do not have an electronic ignition but believe they are less sensitive to a (slightly) wobbly distributor shaft.

There is not much way to get increased coil output without increasing the coil primary current. This in turn, increases the current through the points & shortens their life. An OK trade off if you don't mind replacing the points more often.
