Howdy all:

I'd love advice from the collective on good but inexpensive carpet sets for the TR6. I know that Moss and TRF have great sets, but my girlfriend's '71 is in desperate need of new carpets, and since it isn't a show car, it doesn't need anything super fancy, but anything would be better than the wretched JC Whitney special that currently covers her floor. I've seen some sets on Ebay that are in the $200 range, but I'm a bit leery. Any advice is most welcome.

Also, I've already posted in the condolences thread for Dave's family, but I can't bring myself to post a car question without remembering Dave. Although I never met Dave, he was such a huge help to me over the years, as I know he was to many others here. His advice, support and wisdom will be sorely missed. Thanks, Dave, for everything. Godspeed.

Well if low price is what you are after look at BPNW. Call and talk to them about the carpet, they are real helpful on the phone.
I used TRF nylon and think it's pretty good. Some day when I do a total repaint and restore I would like to do wool.

So would I, but I think most colors are no longer available. :frown:
 
Bill- Prestige (I think that is their name) sells a complete kit on e-bay all the time . I just looked but nothing at this time.

Oh, I used the TRF nylon, or OEM as they called it for my 74 and I'm happy with it. Not quite as plush as the Wilton wool, but now that the engine overhaul and paint work is done, I may go that route way down the road.

This is almost as good of subject as what type oil to use. LOL.
I just finished last year two cars and have a 3rd set of carpets for the Spit in the house.
One car was Heritage wool and the other TRF nylon.
The wool was very nice, it also did not have one bit extra on any of the margins and well you can do the price research.
We had a set of nylon from the other vendor that starts with an M but this was returned, it did not meet our needs at all.
The TRF nylon I installed is "to me" a good compromise in price and quality and it has extra on the margins allowing a good overlay on the joints. This was after seeing and handling 3 different sets. It's not just what you see, it's also the backing, that makes it last.
This is also one of those jobs that is not hard but is somewhat time consuming and it's one you look at every time you drive.
So this is an area again "in my opinion" to if you can add a little extra.
