TR6 carb "ball joints"

So I'm cleaning up my carb linkage, after installing my cleaned-up intake/exhaust manifolds, water pump housing, etc., and I come across these sad linkage balls.

I checked the TR6 parts catalog, and I am surprised there's no separate number for these things. The book, and Moss catalog (don't) show them as a control arm likage assembly. Anyone know if these are available elsewhere? There are 3 in total; two as in the picture, and one has a wider thread and nut...

Re: TR6 carb "ball joints"

Kevin has a 3. Which parts? Somebody might have some used ones

Re: TR6 carb "ball joints"

If the OEM parts aren't available from the sources referenced above, be sure to measure what you have left and visit https://www.mcmaster.com. In the FIND field enter "1132" which will take you to catalog page 1132. At the bottom of the page that opens up you'll find miniature, separable rod ends.

McMaster sells to anyone with a credit card, their shipping charges are reasonable... and shipping is VERY fast.

Re: TR6 carb "ball joints"

Item 88 and item 83 in the Moss diagram both have ball ends like that.

But I wouldn't bother looking for used ones, as they are pretty much all rather worn after all these years. Seems that no one ever puts a drop of oil on them, since the handbook just lumps them under "several small control joints".

As my parts guy used to say, "You've already got a used one."

Many, many years ago, before I knew of either Moss or TRF, I walked into a big truck (semi) dealer and bought some of those ends off the shelf. Our 58 White bus used exactly the same things, including the threads (which ISTR are British rather than SAE). Only it's throttle linkage was probably 25' long as it was a 'pusher' with the engine behind the rear axle.

Ok UNCLE, I've seen this many times and I GIVE UP. What is ISTR

AFAIK, ISTR is 'I seem to remember (or recall)' /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Re: TR6 carb "ball joints"

So I thought I'd update this topic from last year, and how I acquired "ball studs".
Ordering the 148496 short link rod from TRF supplies 2 of the ball studs:

There are 3 ball studs needed, though, and one of them that comes with the short link rod has a longer depth of the stud, which might eventually interfere with the carb heat shield I might use...

I'll call or email TRF, and see what they say....

I found this by following a current thread. It seems to me that, for those of us on this British forum, BYU should be added to the list that Randall referenced. (Bob's your uncle)
