To carry a discussion found on the 6-pack forum here to the experts, can anyone explain what the two tags on the right rear bulkhead of the engine compartment signify. A Moss catalog from 1999 stated one was the body number, the other was the commission number with the CC (or similar identifier) after the digits rather then preceding. The Moss discription seems not to be true.

TRF blue catalog states the one tag is the body number with the letter prefix from the commission number used as a suffix.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that the two numbers are like the two numbers found on the sidescreen TR2/TR3 cars. The "painted" one is the number of the bare body ("body in white" as they are sometimes known) and the bare metal plate is a number assigned to a fully painted and trimmed body?

Yes, the painted one is from the manufacturer facility of the body, the other was assigned during the final production phase. I think on the TR4 this number matched the commission number but not on the 6's.
