TR6 TR6 Alternator

I have been having ongoing problems with my Lucas alternator since it was refurbished, about 4 years ago.
The circuit board at the rear of the unit keeps failing, seems to be only lasting 1 year for each replacement.
First sign of failure is a dim glow of the ignition light, followed by the alternator stop charging. If left, the circuit reverses polarity, actually drawing 13.5v from the battery!!
Am I just lucky, or are others experiencing the same problems with genuine Lucas alternators? Is there a suitable Bosch replacement?
Regards
Craig

I purchased a bosch unit and the original plug will fit, its almost a direct bolt up, ask for a ford fiesta and I think its 78-80 model year, go to a foreighn car parts place, auto zone will not have it make sure you get a bosch unit, I paid 165.00 for it, 55 amp

I think you have to specify that the unit should be for a Ford Fiesta with airconditioning. I could be wrong.

Thanks Hondo & Bill.
I have located the same Bosch unit you mention this morning. An auto electrician is testing it for me before I purchase it.
