TR4/4A TR4AIRS Rear Suspension Questions

Finally got some time for the tr and put it up on stands to inspect suspension. Ordered new polyurethane kit for front (to be done over winter) and rear shock link bushings (rubber) as the existing are pretty badly cracked. My questions are should i raise the trailing arm before attempting to change the bushings and is there a preferred position for checking the shock oil?

Thanks
JD

If the car is on jack stands you should then raise the trailing arm just slightly with a jack and then replace the shock link bushings. If you don't support the trailing arm it will drop when you remove the shock link nut and you'll have to jack it back up to install the bushings. The shock link actually limits the travel of the trailing arm as the shock arm compresses against the bump stop.

Checking the shock oil while the car is on jack stands is OK. I'd do it once you have the bushings replaced.

Thanks, working like a charm. just doing a general clean and inspect, see if I can find an elusive clunk. The bumber stop was actually loose, but other than a cracked ebrake boot, everything looks good. Just another item to add to the list. Replacing the rebound rubber but not the brake lines yet. Have the tank out and awating the etcher and sealer and hoping i can get it back on the ground by the end of the month.
