Im starting to install the door weatherstrip and Im not sure how to install it around this clip. What is the purpose of this clip and how close should the door glass be to this clip? Also how far up to the top side of the windshield frame does the weatherstrip go? Thanks

As found on my TR4...

The flap along the top edge of the door window should have a wire loop (long rectangle) that hooks here. Replacement tops usually include that wire & rivets (2 per) but leave it to the installer to attach them.

Full agreement here. Those are top retaining clips.

Thanks for the help on the clip. Another question. Could someone post the same pics with the window in the up position so I can see where the clip is in relation to the glass? Thanks

My TR4A is a pretty acurate restoration and I am happy to post pictures but need someone to tell me how. Could e-mail as well.

The clip resides behind the weatherstrip, so it should not touch the glass, when the window is up.

One of these days, I've just got to write a Wiki article for this!

There are several different ways to post pictures, but the easiest IMO for multiple pictures of random sizes is to create a free account on Photobucket and upload your photos to there. The signup process is relatively painless, they don't ask a lot of nosy questions or try to steal your contacts list as some other sites do. And their uploader will automagically resize your photos if necessary, to meet their size limits.

Once you have the photos up there, you can place links to them in your BCF posts so it appears they are posted here. If you let your mouse hover over the thumbnail on PB, you should get a pull-down menu like this:

GetIMGcode.jpg

Click in the box that says "IMG Code". Then navigate over to your BCF post and hit Ctrl-V. What you see will just be some text like <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code:</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>
DSCF0029_crop.jpg
</pre>[/QUOTE]
But others will see your photo

And you can repeat this as many times as you like:

Thanks Randall, I think I've finally figured it out with your instructions! Here is my car.
